May is Beef Month, and it’s the perfect time to dust off the grill and enjoy supper outside on the porch with your family. Whether it’s steak kabobs, burgers or ribeyes, the versatility of beef means there are plenty of ways for consumers to enjoy beef on the grill on a regular basis.

This month, let’s put some extra emphasis on promoting beef and boosting demand by sharing how you enjoy beef at home on the ranch. There are countless ways to do this. For example, we can promote the beef checkoff’s 30 Day Protein Challenge or participate in a Team BEEF event, just to name a few.

You can also be part of the action through BEEF Daily by submitting your best beef grilling photos. The theme for our May Beef Month photography contest is summer grilling, and I’m looking for photographs of your family gathered around the dinner table, of someone manning the grill, of your beef creations sizzling over the charcoal, or your kids biting into a big burger. Ultimately, we'll want to compile a series of photographs that put beef in the spotlight, then share these images on social media and get consumers excited about grilling with beef this summer.

How do I enter the contest?

As always, entries can be sent to me at [email protected]. With your photo, include your name and photo title or description. One entry per person please.

What are the prizes?


We will be giving away two cowboy hats, valued at $300, to the champion and reserve champion photographers, courtesy of our contest sponsor Greeley Hat Works. As a bonus, we will also be give away three Western art prints to randomly selected voters who help select our champions.

When is the deadline?

Entries will be accepted until 8 a.m. on May 12. On May 13, we will announce our top finalists and open up the contest for voting. Voting will end at noon on May 19, and on May 20, our winners will be announced. Check out the complete rules here.
