A few years ago, I was approached by a college friend of mine, Michelle Weber, about a photograph that won a BEEF Daily photo contest. The photo was an image of a baby calf trying to get his legs underneath him and stand up for the first time. Weber was inspired by the image and wanted to get permission from the photographer, Sarah Anderson, to paint it.
After seeing the final product, which is now available as a print called, “A New Beginning,” I knew that Weber would make the perfect illustrator for my children’s book, “Levi’s Lost Calf.” Weber agreed to help me bring my children’s book to life, and the rest is history.
Since then, I’ve had a lot of fun reading my book at schools and libraries across the country and giving kids a taste of country life in the process.
When she's not outside helping her husband on their Red Angus ranch, Weber now keeps busy doing custom paintings for folks, as well as selling prints, note cards and other items on her website. I’m in love with her most recent painting of a Hereford herd bull, which she did as a custom piece for Claire Taylor. The painting now needs a caption, so I thought it would be fun to come full circle and have the BEEF Daily readers help Weber name this new print.
So, to kick off the month of August, BEEF Daily is hosting a photo caption contest! Your challenge is to title this print for Weber. The best title or caption will be awarded a $100 gift certificate that can be applied to a custom painting of your choice. Three honorable mentions will be selected to win a BEEF cap.
The contest will run until Wednesday, Aug. 7, at noon, with the winners to be announced on Aug. 8. Let’s have some fun with this! Enter your best caption or title for this print in the comments section below. Good luck!
