Meat Market Update | Choice cutout continues decline

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Choice cutout continues to decline since all major Choice primals have been dropping in prices. The rib primal has continued to increase in the spot trade, but the comprehensive or average Choice rib has just started the seasonal decline after a big increase the last few months. The Choice chuck and round primals have been declining which is abnormal, since they normally trade in a much steadier trend during the fall when roasts are a more important item for consumers.
