Meat Market Update | Easter ham sales hinder Daily Choice cutout rally

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Comprehensive Choice cutout, which is the weekly average, continues to jump and was $6.65 higher, climbing on the heels of the tremendous Choice Rib and Loin rally. Recent moderating weather in many areas has promoted the grilling season rally the last few weeks.

However, the Daily Choice cutout topped out and started to decline as retailers concentrate on ham sales for Easter which is a normal seasonal event.
