Meat Market Update | Labor Day production ends, cutout weakens

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Daily Spot Choice box beef cutout ended the week at $243.22 and was $1.68 lower compared to previous Friday, but the Comprehensive or Weekly Average Choice Cutout which includes all types of sales was $241.13 which was only 16 cents higher. The weakening daily cutout corresponds to the fact that we have reached the end of the Labor Day production period.
