Meat Market Update | Labor Day production sparks beef trade

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

We are beginning the production for the Labor Day holiday and that, along with the bigger out-front sales that were made in mid-July, has really helped push the trade upward. As we have seen by the rising Daily Choice Cutout, demand has improved recently. Also the out-front sales items were priced very close to the current trade which is a much stronger market than when they were being priced well below the current trade a few weeks ago.
