Meat Market Update | More beef supplies pressure prices downward

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Comprehensive or Average Choice Cutout was $221.49; it dropped $11.17 for the week. The Daily Cutout has dropped $34 since it began its decline the last week of August.

The cold storage report for August showed that total beef supplies were 36% higher than last year which helps to explain the tremendous downward pressure on the beef prices.
