Meat Market Update | Out-front sales jumpstart total volume sold

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Comprehensive or Average Choice Cutout dropped almost $3 but the volume increased to over 7,000 loads. The biggest reason for the increase in volume was the fact that the Out-Front Sales jumped to over 1,600 loads which is the biggest volume that we have seen in some time.

Another important item to note was that a lot of those Out-Front Sales that were priced below the Current Average Formula prices so they actually helped to lower the Choice Cutout this week.
