Meat Market Update | Big price rally around grilling season

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The grilling season has definitely started in most areas which helped to improve prices especially for steak-type middle meats.

The middle meats, which are loins and ribs, always take center stage this time of the year and they were $9-$10 higher as they continue their big seasonal price rally. There was some anticipation for pent up demand caused by the bad winter weather and it has definitely came to town to buy steak meats.
