Dr. Ronnie Green chosen as President-Elect of American Society of Animal Science

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (July 15, 2009)—The American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) announced today that Dr. Ronnie D. Green will serve as the association's 2009 – 2010 President-Elect. The President-Elect is chosen by a general membership vote after a nominating committee selects two qualified candidates from a group of nominated members. Dr. Green is the Senior Director, Global Technical Services with Pfizer Animal Genetics.

"I am very honored and humbled to serve in this capacity," says Dr. Green. "ASAS is the preeminent animal science organization in the world, offering extensive opportunities to its members and the animal science industry. I look forward to working with the board and the ASAS membership to further promote the organization's proactive role in animal agriculture, its focus on research and education, and the many great people and organizations involved with the Society."

Beginning today Dr. Green will start a one-year term as President-Elect, followed by one year as President and a third year as Past-President. As president of ASAS Dr. Green will provide strategic guidance to the organization as well as serve as its spokesperson. The ASAS board is comprised of distinguished university and government scientists and leading industry professionals.

"Dr. Green brings a unique background in agriculture to his new position with the ASAS board," says ASAS Executive Director Dr. Meghan Wulster-Radcliffe. "Dr. Green is the first President-Elect in quite some time with extensive experience in academia, government and industry settings. This knowledge will prove beneficial as he provides strategic guidance to the organization and its policies."
