Drought Management: Don't Forget About Your Bulls

It's easy, as the drought of the century lumbers on, to focus on the cowherd as you scramble and scratch for ways to weather another dry year. But what about the bulls? Decreased forage quality and quantity affects the reproductive capability of bulls as well as cows. With a lower plane of nutrition comes decreased semen quality, quantity and motility, among other things. John Jaeger, beef scientist at the K-State Ag Research Center in Hays, KS, explains.
