Hannah Rowlett Earns Junior Bronze & Silver Awards

Hannah Rowlett, Hurricane Mills, Tenn., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Bronze and Silver Awards. The 17-year-old daughter of Buddy and Kelley Rowlett is a senior at Waverly Central High School.

A member of the NJAA since 1994, Hannah has also been an active member of the Tennessee Junior Angus Association. She has served as the historian for the Tennessee juniors and is the reigning Angus queen. At the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), she has participated in the poster and quiz bowl contests. Hannah also attended the Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) Conference. She has exhibited her cattle at numerous local, state and national shows and has participated in many showmanship contests. Hannah has consigned cattle to the West Tennessee Angus Sale.

The Bronze and Silver Awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the awards and then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors. Applicants are evaluated in areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.

The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for nearly 8,000 active members nationwide.
