Three Lessons Learned From Past FMD Outbreaks

The U.S. can benefit from the misfortunes of other countries as they have dealt with foot and mouth disease. By analyzing what went right and what went wrong, U.S. animal health officials can better plan, prepare and train for a possible outbreak here. While an effective response requires multiple moving parts all working together, early detection and rapid and robust biosecurity are two key elements.
