Illumina CSPro Certification for GoldenGate Granted to Pfizer Animal Genetics’ laboratory

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — April 18, 2011 — The Pfizer Animal Genetics laboratory in Kalamazoo, Mich., recently received the Illumina® CSPro® certification for GoldenGate® Bovine 3K Beadchip. The Illumina CSPro certification for the GoldenGate platform is the second certification Pfizer Animal Genetics has received from Illumina in 2011.

“The GoldenGate certification reinforces that our 3K genotyping processes used for CLARIFIDETM predictions meet the highest industry standards,” says Sue DeNise, senior director, Global R&D and Laboratory Operations with Pfizer Animal Genetics. “The new Illumina certifications in 2011 demonstrate our continued commitment to be a leading, world-class laboratory and service provider to our customers.”

Illumina CSPro is the collaborative service provider partnership dedicated to ensuring the delivery of the highest-quality data available for genetic analysis applications. Illumina CSPro participants undergo a rigorous two-phase certification process that includes data generation, data certification and an on-site audit of the facility and processes.

The GoldenGate certification is especially important for CLARIFIDE from Pfizer Animal Genetics, a genomic prediction technology developed from a 3K DNA platform for Holstein, Jersey and Brown Swiss dairy cattle. CLARIFIDE GPTAs are generated by USDA AIPL, and include 30 production, health and type traits, plus nine composite indexes that accelerate long-term production capabilities and profitability.
