Merial is acquiring five new DNA tests from Frontier Beef Systems, which will be marketed through their IGENITY brand. The five tests are:
TenderGENE™ tests for the calpain protein, which enhances tenderness by weakening muscle fibers during the postmorem aging process.
DoubleBLACK™ tests for the homozygous black genotype for coat color.
ParentMATCH™ test is a highly accurate parent ID tool that can be used to validate parentage or match sires to progeny.
DNATRACE™ provides birth to consumption traceability using a DNA-based ID system.
Sample Archive is for producers who want to save tissue sample on animals for future testing. The tissue can be in the form of hair, blood or semen, and will be stored in a state-of-the-art facility.
