Meat Market Update | Exports and out-front sales help keep volume high

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, Texas, offers a concise summary of how last week's beef trade impacted the cattle market and beef prices.

The daily cutout rebounded and was over $2 higher but the weekly average Choice cutout was $.70 lower. However, the weekly average Choice cutout was still helped by higher priced out-front sales or it might have declined even more. Very big exports and good out-front sales both helped keep the total volume of loads sold for the week high, even though it was a little lower than the previous week.
