Meat Market Update | Middle meats jump even higher as grilling rally continues

The Choice rib primal has jumped nearly $40 in the last month. This is a season jump but is happening much earlier than last year, signaling that grilling season rally is in full swing.

The daily spot Choice box beef cutout ended the week last Friday at $218.37 which was $8.49 higher compared to the previous Friday, helped again by the rising middle meats. Last year, the daily Choice cutout was $198 on Friday and had also jumped over $8 dollars that week.

The daily Choice rib primal jumped $19 dollars this week and is up almost $40 dollars in the last month, it was at $354 on Friday compared to $295 last year. This is a similar situation to last year where the rib was driving the cutout higher, but the incline is earlier this year than last year, so it appears the grilling season rally is in progress.

The daily Choice loin also jumped $13 dollars this week helping to push the cutout higher with seasonal steak sales definitely in progress.
