Meat Market Update | Rib rally pushes prices higher

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, Texas, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Weekly Average Choice cutout was $3.54 higher, regaining what it lost the previous week on the heels of the skyrocketing weekly average Choice primal rib price which jumped $26. The other three major Choice primals which are the Round, Chuck, and Loin were steady to $1 higher so the increase in the cutout has been driven by the rib price rally.
