Is there anything cuter than a baby calf? I don’t care how many years I’m in this business, the images of calves romping in the pasture, snuggled up in the calf shelter, or sporting a milk mustache after dinnertime, always make me smile.
Last week, I challenged BEEF Daily readers to come up with a caption to fit this calving-season photo taken by BEEF Editor Joe Roybal. With 96 entries, it was difficult to narrow it down, but we have selected the top three captions that fit this photo.
Congratulations to Susan Graves, James Stauffacher and Clay Wright!
Susan Graves -- “My turn to babysit, but four is ridiculous.”
James Stauffacher -- “Are you sure she knows where the creep feeder is?”
Clay Wright – “It’s called a puddle; I was your age the last time I saw one.”
Our winners will receive a copy of “Cowboy Ethics: What Wall Street Can Learn From The Code Of The West,” by James P. Owen, with photos by David R. Stoecklein. Thanks to all who participated and stay tuned for another caption contest later this month.
By the way, if you love calving season as much as I do, you’ll love this collection of reader-submitted images of spring calves . With close to 150 photographs, surely one or two will make you smile today. Enjoy!
