NEW Photo Contest: Send Your Best “Ranch Mom” Photo

Happy May Day! At my house, we’re praying for May showers to green up the pastures, and we’re looking forward to summer grazing season just around the corner. With the month of May comes Mother’s Day. I’m now 35 weeks pregnant and looking forward to joining the “mom club,” and in the meantime, I thought it would be a great idea to celebrate ranch moms [3] with a new photo contest.

The grand champion photograph will receive a $100 Beef Bucks VISA card, and two honorable mentions will receive $50 in Beef Bucks. Beef Bucks can be used anywhere beef is sold (grocery stores, restaurants, etc.).

The May contest theme is “ranch moms,” so we are looking for your best photo that captures what makes your mom, wife or grandma [6] special.

One entry per person please. See contest rules here. [7]

To enter, email a photo of your ranch mom, her name, and your name and mailing address to me at [email protected] And be sure to tell us why she’s so special [9]. Entries will be accepted until noon on Thursday, May 8. We will announce the top 10 finalists on May 12. (By the way, May 11 is Mother’s Day if you need to remember to purchase a gift for that special woman in your life.) After finalists are announced, voting by readers will remain open until noon on Friday, May 16. The reader-selected champions will be announced on May 19.

In addition, two voters will be randomly selected to win prizes as well. To these winners, we'll give each one copy of two beautiful coffee-table books, “The Western Horse” and “Dude Ranches of the American West,” both featuring the stunning camera work of western photographer David R. Stoecklein.

I can’t wait to see your entries! Check back often for photo gallery updates, which I will post here [10]. Thanks for your participation.
