Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – More than 500 spectators gathered along with the 150 online viewers to take in the first ever Speckle Park production sale in Canada at Northland’s Edmonton Expo Centre on April 2, 2011.
Consignors Codiak Acres (Ardrossan, Alberta), River Hill Farm and Six Star Cattle Co. (Neilburg, Saskatchewan) offered a tremendous set of cattle and genetics for bidders from five Canadian provinces, four American states, Australia, England and New Zealand.
Codiak Ollie 1X (Lot 17) was the high selling lot at $17,500 and was purchased by Andy Clark of Sherwood Park, Alberta. Codiak Acres of Ardrossan, Alberta purchased the high selling bull, Notta Frontline 303X (Lot 20), for $8,750. The high selling flush was off of Notta Uptown Girl 16U (Lot 1), which sold to Ron Carty of Pemberton, New Jersey for $5,600. The Lot 12 embryo package (River Hill Walker x Notta Pho-Finish 54P) sold for $1,700 per embryo to River Hill Farm of Neilburg, Saskatchewan. Nathan Stone of Westerose, Alberta, purchased the Codiak Crikey semen for $120/unit.
The sale grossed $166,175 on 37 lots to average $4,491. The breakdown was as follows:
18 bulls averaged $4,286
6 heifers averaged $8,275
3 flushes averaged $4,400
20 embryos averaged $1,017/embryo
