Peaceful moments on the ranch Amanda Radke

New photo contest: Quiet moments on the ranch

BEEF and Twisted X want to see your best photos that capture your favorite quiet and peaceful moments on the ranch.

Last week, while the rest of the BEEF team attended the 2018 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in Phoenix, Ariz., my family headed in a different direction — showing and selling bulls at the Black Hills Stock Show. Without a doubt, it was a busy week for everyone, and I loved being able to follow along with Twitter on what was happening in Phoenix since I wasn’t able to attend.

With last week’s hectic schedule of traveling in the rear view mirror, we can all settle back into our routines once again. For me, that means checking on calving cows, shuttling our three-year old to preschool, preparing for an upcoming tax appointment and managing the daily grind of running a cow-calf operation.

It all sounds kind of mundane on the surface, but in between the appointments, bookwork, chores, laundry, cooking, cleaning and calving, there are beautiful and peaceful moments to be enjoyed every day on the ranch.

In February, we are celebrating those peaceful moments that are so unique to country living. Whether that’s a gorgeous sunrise or sunset, cow-calf pairs snuggled together to keep warm, a quiet ride through the pens in the feedlot, a relaxing supper on the front porch, a hot cup of coffee enjoyed in the pickup on the way to the feed store or just browsing through sale catalogs with your spouse, there are so many quiet and understated ways that truly make ranch life so special.

Which moments make your day just a little bit brighter? We want to see them in images! With the help of our sponsor, Twisted X, BEEF is hosting a new photo contest titled, “Quiet moments on the ranch.”

From now until Feb. 12, we’ll be taking photo submissions that fit this theme. Please, email your best image to [email protected] (limited to one entry per person) to be entered for a chance to win a pair of Twisted X driving moccasins or a $50 VISA gift card.

Once the deadline for submissions has been closed, we’ll comb through the entries and select finalists. We’ll announce our top entries on Feb. 13, and then we invite you to help us select our champions. Voting will close on Feb. 15, and winners will be announced on Feb. 19. In addition to our champion and reserve champion prizes, three randomly selected voters will receive a Twisted X ball cap!

I can’t wait to see your favorite images from the ranch. Check back often as we’ll be updating a photo gallery as we receive new entries. Thanks for your participation and good luck!
