What I love about the ranching business is no two days are exactly the same. In the last week, we welcomed customers to our place to view bred heifers we have listed for sale. We’ve also been busy feeding newly weaned calves, and in the next couple of days, we’ll move the herd to harvested corn fields for fall grazing.

When you love your work, it never really feels like work, and in October, we’ve been celebrating hard-working ranching families and their lives in rural America.

Earlier this month, we launched a photo contest asking readers for their best ranch work, ranch life images. We received nearly 200 photos, and we had the difficult task of narrowing down the images to 20 finalists.

Now we need your help in selecting the best images. The champion photographer will receive a pair of Twisted X driving moccasins, and the reserve champion will take home a $50 VISA gift card. Plus, we’ll surprise three randomly selected voters with prizes, as well.

You can vote for your favorite image by clicking here. Voting will be open until noon on Oct. 19, and we’ll announce the lucky winners on Oct. 23. You can vote every single day, so stop back often to place your vote and help your favorite win!

On another note, you may recall a blog post I wrote in June about how the beef checkoff celebrated National Beef Jerky Day in a collaboration with The Manly Man Company to send beef jerky bouquets to news personalities at 115 different TV stations across the country. In that post, which you can read here, I incorrectly linked to the wrong jerky company, and I would like to apologize to The Manly Man Company for the error. As the holiday season approaches, consider shopping for a beef jerky bouquet to gift to co-workers, friends and family. Shop for your beef jerky bouquets here.
