BOZEMAN, MT. Triple C Farms, owned and operated by Peter and Ila Courtney, Maple Plain, MN, has been recognized with the prestigious 2009 World Simmental Fleckvieh Federation (WSFF) Golden Book Award.

Triple C Farms, with locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Kansas, is owned and operated by Peter Courtney and his wife, Ila, and has been a consistent, active voice on behalf of the American Simmental Association (ASA), the Simmental breed, and the American Junior Simmental Association. Triple C was one of the earliest cattle operations to establish a scholarship program designed to encourage youth members to become more deeply involved in the business of producing high-quality Simmental cattle. The program has drawn universal praise.

Courtney has been a driving force in establishing a firm footing for the American Simmental Foundation contributing innovative ideas, financial resources, genetics and countless hours, serving on the Foundation Board continuously since 1995. His peers respect Peter’s leadership, opinions and ideas; and he has consistently placed the goals and options of organizations above his personal interests.

Presentation of the 2009 Golden Book Award was made at the Chairman’s Reception during the ASA Annual Meeting and Convention, January 31, in Fort Worth.

The American Simmental Association is headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, and maintains the breed registries for the Simmental and Simbrah breeds of cattle. ASA has an active adult and junior membership of nearly 8,000.
