Maybe you think you know all you need to know about making quality hay and forage for your livestock. And maybe you believe you have all the equipment you need to do it effectively and efficiently. Perhaps you do. But it might be worth your time to check out some new tools in the haying line that companies are proud of today. They believe these new offerings include features and technology that make them worthy of a closer look.
For example, Hesston’s new windrower comes with not one but two options for GPS guidance. Whoever thought you’d see the words “precision guidance” and “hay” in the same sentence? Technology has come to haying too. But Hesston has not forgotten the basics in putting together these machines. They are equipped with adequate power to do the job. There are three models to choose from, based on engine size and the amount of horsepower generated.
Hesston also introduced new big square balers. You can select from the 2233 model, which produces 3-by-3-foot bales, or the 2244 large square baler, which produces 4-by-4-foot bales.
Other companies are unveiling new haying tools as well. Case IH displayed two new balers and a new cutter, the DC5 mower-conditioner, available in widths from 10 to 16.5 feet. The Case IH RB456A is a small round baler with 30% wider pickup than earlier models. This one is positioned as an economy model, but it still comes equipped with an updated wrapping system common on all Case IH round balers. Finally, check out the Case IH RB6 HD Pro Series baler.
