Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and while I love pressing pause on our busy lives to spend the day with loved ones, I cringe at a day that centers around poultry. I’m a beef 365 days/year kind of gal, so the idea of going out and purposefully eating fowl is well, kind of foul to me.

All kidding aside, we typically spend Thanksgiving on the ranch. We eat a great meal, which admittedly does include turkey, but only because our grocery store gives them away for punches earned from previous purchases. After we eat, we play cards, browse the Black Friday ads and end up in the barn working on show bulls for upcoming consignment sales.

All in all, it’s a pretty low-key holiday, and that’s sometimes exactly what a person needs to relax, recharge and unwind after a busy fall harvest, weaning and preg-checking season.

But just as soon as Turkey Day is over, I’m back to beef, and thankfully, the Beef Checkoff has got me covered with plenty of holiday inspiration to head into the Christmas season.

First, BeefItsWhatsForDinner.com has a great page for folks to reference, which offers oven roasting basics for beef lovers planning to include the good stuff on their Thanksgiving and Christmas menus.

From pre-heating and prepping the meat, to searing the roast, to cooking it low and slow to tips on carving and serving, this reference page is worth sharing with friends this holiday season.

Also, we have all heard of a yule log, but have you gotten to check out the “beef drool log” yet?

According to Hillary Makens for Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner., “Just in time for the holidays, Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. is releasing a new craveable ‘Beef Drool Log' video sure to ‘spice up’ any gathering and celebration. The Beef Drool Log is a two-hour video featuring a beautiful Prime Rib Roast cooking to perfection on a rotisserie over open flame. The video pays homage to the iconic Yule Log but puts a tasty spin on it like only beef can.”

The two-hour video is available on YouTube, and shorter version will be showcased on Hulu, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and select movie theaters in 10 states between November 22 and December 5.

Makens writes, “The Beef Drool Log is the latest video in the ‘Keep Sizzlin’ advertisement collection from Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. The original sizzle video, featuring a strip steak crackling and popping as it cooks in a cast iron skillet, has been viewed more than 33 million times. Additional sizzle videos showcasing the popular beef preparation methods of smoking, stir-fry, sous vide and grilling have more than 81 million views.”

Season Solorio, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association senior executive director of brand marketing and communications, said, “Real beef’s great taste and ‘drool worthiness’ cannot be replicated, which is why we think sizzle videos resonate so well with consumers. The holidays are the perfect time to build on the sizzle concept we know consumers love and add a touch of nostalgia by pairing two holiday favorites – beef and the traditional Yule Log video. The resulting Beef Drool Log is sure to be an instant holiday favorite and crowd pleaser.”

Did you know that 60% of beef roast annual sales are generated in December? Now is a great time to remind folks about the rich, robust flavor of beef and how it can really wow a crowd during the holiday season!

And thanks to Beef Checkoff tools like Chuck Knows Beef, a virtual assistant powered by Google Artificial Intelligence, families can now get even more help with selecting the cuts, recipes and tips for a perfect holiday feast.
