President Obama’s approval rating hit all-time new lows last week. Republicans won two congressional special elections by convincing margins – even capturing a House seat in New York that Democrats had controlled since the 1920s. Then, there’s the budding scandal over stimulus money and loans being made to “green” companies based on political considerations.
Add in to that nearly every economic indicator that came out this week was dismal, and you have every pundit in the country talking about the potential for major changes coming as a result of the 2012 elections.
However, in politics, a year is a lifetime. There’s also another saying that when you are at the very bottom, there is no place to go but up. It might appear that things couldn’t get any worse for President Obama, and there are a lot of people in his campaign who are pretty excited about that very fact. But we have 14 long and interesting months to go.
