Feeder cattle prices were either side of steady with some a little lower but some steady to $3 higher. The big variation in prices were definitely influenced by the oscillating CME prices on the different auction days.

Slaughter cow prices were either side of steady, but the lower end of the price ranges dropped causing wider price spreads. The main driving forces were the wild swings in the cow meat prices. Last Friday, the 90 percent trimmings -- which are the biggest single product -- had dropped over $3.50 compared to the previous Friday. It did improve some the following Monday.
