Meat Market Update | Sales volume down despite grilling holiday

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Comprehensive or Weekly Avg. Choice cutout was $249.18, which was only $0.38 lower. However there were only 5,191 total loads sold, which was 976 loads lower than the previous week and one of the smallest numbers we have seen in some time. The formula sales were at 2,937 loads which was also a very small number and 604 loads lower than last week.
