Meat Market Update | Rib primal leads the way, little support from others

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Choice rib primal was about $12 higher, another big jump. This is following the normal seasonal rally that actually pushed the Choice cutout higher last year until about the end of November. This year we are in the midst of a similar rally, but are not getting much additional help from the other major primals. The loin was steady and the chuck and round were both roughly $2 lower.
