Without a doubt, last year was a surprise for the cattle market—some good, some bad. By and large, however, at least for cow-calf producers, the 2018 cattle market was stronger, longer than many expected. Robust consumer demand both here and abroad was one of the main factors underpinning the market last year.
But more protein supply, not only cattle but pork and poultry, will hit the market this year. In fact, whatever that total production number is at the end of the year will be an all-time record. Will consumer demand continue to buoy the cattle market in the face of greater supply?
How do you make sense of all the conflicting, confusing signals running through the 2019 cattle market? Tune in to BEEF’s market outlook webinar, Wednesday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern, that’s how.
