A pair of Hereford bulls sold for $100,000 each recently at a bull sale in Montana, a news outlet is reporting.
The bulls were touted before the Holden Herefords sale March 13 in Valier, Mont., as having "elite calving ease, carcass and phenotype," and were thus attractive to breeders, the Cowboy State Daily reports.
“It’s not that difficult” to get a six-figure return, National Cattlemen's Beef Association president-elect and Wyoming beef producer Mark Eisele told the outlet. “In fact, it’s actually fairly typical in some circles. He’s probably got some very powerful genetics or some very desirable traits that have made him so popular.”
The buyer’s $100,000 investment can generate that much in return, or more, as semen straws from the bull will generate income for several years, Eiseler told Cowboy State Daily.
