“Feeding Future Generations: Supporting Sustainable Global Food Production” is the theme of a panel discussion set for Oct. 13 from 8:30-11:15 a.m., in Washington, D.C. The beef checkoff is teaming up with The Atlantic magazine to host a panel of experts in an open discussion about how to raise the healthiest food, including beef, for a growing population with limited resources. The event will be live-streamed and questions can be submitted via the Atlantic LIVE Twitter Feed: twitter.com/#!/Atlantic_LIVE or follow the conversation on Twitter with the #AtlanticFFG hashtag.
The event will include a keynote address by former USDA Secretary Dan Glickman, followed by a panel discussion with:
Steve Foglesong, Illinois cow-calf producer and cattle feeder.
Tony Hall, executive director, Alliance to End Hunger and U.S. Ambassador to the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization;
Suzy Friedman, deputy director, Working Lands, Environmental Defense Fund.
Additionally, Richard Gebhart, Oklahoma cattleman, University of Tulsa professor and vice-chair of the beef industry’s Joint Issues Management Subcommittee, will provide opening remarks about the beef industry’s commitment to raising the healthiest food to feed a growing population.
