Ongoing spells of hot weather will continue through the rest of the summer, with some record to near-record levels forecasted for early autumn.

The rainfall pattern will continue to reflect deeper tropical moisture pools across the Southern Plains and through the eastern and southeastern states. Meanwhile, precipitation totals will trend close to normal to just a bit below the seasonal average throughout the nation's midsection. A drier weather pattern, relative to midsummer, will continue into the Pacific Northwest and much of the West.
