Food demand in America is changing thanks to the GLP1 weight loss drugs, these help consumers eat less but more protein.

Mike Pearson takes a look at the use of GLP1 drugs and the effect on consumers purchasing proteins.

According to public polling, between 6 an 12 percent adults have used a GLP1 drug such as Ozempic.

The drugs suppress appetite and promote a sense of fullness.

According to the Meat Monitor out of Kansas State University, consumers eat less carbohydrates on the drug but eat more protein.

The weight loss drug and diabetic drugs encourage users to eat more prioritize protein and shy away from traditional snack food.

Companies are reporting a big dip in sales of high sugary and carbohydrate loaded foods.

The report found that users eat 40 percent more beef and pork meals and 20 percent more chicken food per day than non-users.

Protein rich foods are needed to focus on muscle mass while losing weight.

Bacon and chicken wings are seeing an uptick in sales which means GLP1 users are open to eating all types of proteins.

The study also found users are concentrating on protein rich foods and are not paying attention to costs.

Consumer's habits and how many people adopt these drugs will determine the protein markets in the near future.
