Max Armstrong offers an update on the dairy industry, which is milking more cows and producing more milk

August 5, 2021

Max Armstrong reports that prices to milk producers may be under pressure in the future. Heat has cut milk production and industry consolidation has shrunk production. Yet on the whole dairy output is up. California, Texas and Wisconsin – three key dairy states – saw increases. Producers are still milking a lot of cows – 9.5 million – which is up from last year. It's the largest herd since 1993, and USDA is forecasting lower prices this year and next. Max shares more details.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
