June 23, 2022

Max Armstrong notes that farmers are used to working with regulatory agencies including EPA, USDA, OSHA, but now the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is getting attention in agriculture. The SEC proposal would require companies to report on their Scope 3 emissions. Farm groups say the reporting requirement would impact ag because of the vast amount of raw products used by companies that would be governed by SEC. The rules might require farmers to comply with new reporting requirements if they sell to publicly traded companies.

Max Armstrong's Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
