Farm Progress America

Farm Progress America, May 1, 2019

Max Armstrong looks at the competitive situation for durum wheat, which is a key component for pasta.

Max Armstrong offers news that the crop of durum wheat may be planted late and there may be fewer acres. There could be a 60% drop in durum acreage, according to news from Farm Broadcaster Al Gustin. Durum acreage in North Dakota could fall by a third. The price for the crop is at historic lows due to global competition. For example, Canadian durum production has been high, and of high quality.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
