Subbing for Max Armstrong, Steve Alexander shares stories about the Super Bowl, winter weather, Farm Bureau and a valuable footstool

Broadcaster Steve Alexander notes that the NFL came close to an all-Midwest Super Bowl, but it will be the Kansas City Chiefs versus the San Francisco 49ers. One thing that did hit the Midwest is tough weather, but it's looking better as January comes to an end. Steve shares news from the American Farm Bureau Federation including the sad news that Bonnie Duvall, wife of Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall passed away after a long battle with cancer. And Steve shares the story of Howard Kirby, who bought a footstool for $70 that turned out to be stuffed with $43,000 someone forgot they hid in the piece of furniture; Kirby didn't keep the money.

Midwest Digest is a twice-daily audio feature produced by Max Armstrong, offering news and commentary from across the Midwest.

And don’t miss Farm Progress America, which runs every day online.
