Barack Obama's farewell speech is tonight in Chicago. University of Kansas professor Robert Rowland say President Obama has the gift of an eloquent speaker, similar to Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. He's been studying Obama's speeches since 2004.

The latest Purdue University/CME Ag Group survey showed producer sentiment hit its highest level in the 15 months they've been doing the survey. It's interesting the stark improvement in grower sentiment has nothing to do with corn and soybean prices. Farmers still face challenging times with 2/3 saying their operations are financially worst off than a year ago yet a third expect their farm to be doing better a year from now.

News from the Detroit Auto Show: The Ford Ranger and Ford Bronco are coming back. The Jeep Wagoneer is coming back and there'll be Jeep pickup truck. The VW microbus may be back too, this time as an electric vehicle.
