For the second time in less than a year, a police officer in Clinton, Mo., has been shot and killed. Officers were responding to home where suspect was barricaded inside. Officer Christopher Morton was a military veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan. Clinton, Mo., is a town of fewer than 10,000.

Do you know these names: Shackleford, Saxon Priest, Kittageskee, Ewalt and McAffee? These are varieties of apples long thought to be extinct. An estimated 17,000 named apple varieties are thought to have originated in North America. Only 4,000 remain.

In Wisconsin, hearing will be held on water needed for $10 billion Foxconn plant. It would use 7 million gallons of water per day. City of Racine, Wis., says OK, but some resisdents and environmentalists are concerned.
