Weekly update on corn and soybean harvest. As of Sunday, 28% of corn crop harvested, 19% behind average, but up 6% from a week earlier. Minnesota and Iowa farmers are way behind. Soybean harvest is 11% behind five-year average.

I’m not sure how this is going to go over. Head of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce says it may be time to do away with America’s Dairyland on Wisconsin license plates. America’s Dairyland has graced license plates in Wisconsin since 1940.

Big Bluestem grass typically grows four to six feet tall. The tall grass may shrink due to climate change caused lack of rainfall.

How many chickens should backyard farmer  in city limits be allowed to have? In Des Moines, 15 with no roosters. That would be difficult, owners say, as hatcheries sell chicks in orders of 25 birds.
