Round baler
John Deere adds the 457 Standard Round Baler to its equipment line. The economy round baler is suited for smaller farm operations and low-acreage hay producers. It produces bales 46 in. wide and up to 60 in. tall. The baler features a small-diameter, low-profile, hay pick-up mounted close to the baler wheels. A staggered belt design reduces the loss of fine material by enabling loose hay under or behind the belts to be returned into the baler.

Filson's Tin Pant
Filson's Single Tin Pant, oil finish; and the Single Tin Pant, dry finish, are made to withstand years of wear. Made of tin cloth, a cotton duck fabric, yarn is twisted before weaving for strength, and woven 2-ply in opposite directions for durability. The oil-finish fabric is saturated with paraffin base wax for increased water repellency, while the dry-finish fabric is water-repellent and breathable. Both pants have suspender buttons and bar tacking at stress points.

Mower conditioners
Kuhn Farm Machinery introduces two unit combinations to its mower conditioner models. The FC 813 R and FC 883 combination mower conditioners are designed for custom hay growers and large livestock operations. The combination of three mower conditioners — one front and two rear — provide a working width of 26 ft., 7 in. on the FC 813 R; and 28 ft., 11 in. on the FC 883. The mowers are fitted with Lift Control® hydropneumatic suspensions that adapt to irregular ground to maintain constant cut quality.

Baling preservation control
Harvest Tec's automatic baler control system offers hay producers and custom harvesters the assurance of higher quality feed storage. The automatic application system provides the precision necessary to bale hay with moisture levels above 16%. The system measures moisture on the go and adjusts application every three seconds to match hay conditions.
The control system is available for small and large square balers and round balers. An in-cab, touch-panel monitor provides the operator with such information as moisture content, target application rate, baling rate and total volume of preservation used.
