Ranchers and farmers in Nebraska have been hard hit by a blizzard and extensive flooding that has reached historic levels in some areas, resulting in the loss of homes, livestock and feed resources. To assist producers impacted by these natural disasters, the Nebraska Cattlemen (NC) and Nebraska Farm Bureau (NFB) each have launched a disaster relief fund.
To make a monetary donation to NC, make the check payable to the Nebraska Cattlemen Disaster Relief Fund and mail it to 4611 Cattle Drive, Lincoln, NE 68521. More information can be found here.
Donations to the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation can be mailed to P.O. Box 80299, Lincoln, NE 68501-0299. Donations to NFB also can be made online by clicking here. NC and NFB will distribute 100% of all donations collected to Nebraska farmers and ranchers affected by natural disasters.
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is coordinating the donation of resources. To donate hay, feedstuffs, fencing materials, volunteer help or equipment, call NDA at (800) 831-0550. The Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center near Mead and Haskell Ag Lab near Concord are serving as donation locations for hay (large bales) and fencing materials for livestock. Those wishing to obtain the donated materials should contact the Nebraska Department of Agriculture.
