Cattle markets showed mixed trends, with fed cattle prices rising slightly, while feeder cattle surged due to favorable weather and border issues. However, January feeder futures fell, and technical factors along with large long positions posed downside risks. Beef production remained steady, and cow slaughter was down significantly.
