A group of country-of-origin labeling (COOL) supporters including the National Farmers Union (NFU) and U.S. Cattlemen’s Association recently met with government officials from the U.S. Trade Representative's Office and White House regarding details on the controversial policy.

After a World Trade Organization (WTO) ruling against the policy and an official revision in 2013, the WTO again said an additional revision in 2014 was not enough to support the policy. The USTR later that year said it would appeal the second WTO decision.

"As we await the WTO process, which can be lengthy, we urge the White House to remain committed to its support of COOL," said Roger Johnson, NFU president. "Ranchers are proud of the products they produce, and consumers overwhelmingly support COOL," he noted.
