It’s hard to believe, but June is just around the corner, and although May Beef Month will soon be over, it’s still important for producers to promote beef during the summer grilling season. With cheaper protein options like chicken and pork in the meat case, I believe beef still has the competitive edge when it comes to that “wow” factor on the grill. We just need to remind our consumers why a sizzling T-bone steak is worth the extra pennies.
One way we can do that is by drumming up some excitement on social media about beef. Whether it’s sharing a favorite recipe or a grilling tip, there are countless ways to promote beef to consumers from the comfort of your own home.
An easy way to get people drooling over beef is to share this photo gallery of 25+ grilling photos on Facebook or Twitter. Check out the gallery here and pass it along.
If you’ve been following along with our May photo contest, yesterday was the final day to vote for your favorite summer grilling photo. Today we announce the winners!
Congratulations to Randy Carmony with his entry, “Mother's Day Dinner.”

Reserve champion honors go to Marty Stingley with “There's always room for more beef on the grill.”

Carmony and Stingley will each receive a Greeley Hat Works hat, valued at $300. As promised, we also have three coffee table books with photography by David Stoecklein to give away. As a thank you to our readers, each voter was able to register to win, and we’ve randomly selected the following three individuals: Jayce Winters, Quade Sheehan and Jan Carraway.
Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone for participating!
By the way, mark your calendars for September and our next photo contest. We’ve teamed up with Greeley Hat Works again for this exciting contest. The theme will be “America’s Cattleman,” and we are looking for photographs of your family’s ranch, your favorite cowboy, and the hardworking people who help keep your outfit running smoothly. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
