There was another good run of feeder cattle moving off of the grazed out wheat pastures with 38,600 head at test auctions. This included very big numbers of steers over 800 lbs. and heifers over 700 lbs. Prices continued to improve and were steady to $7 higher.
There also was a bigger run of cows with 6200 head at the test auctions, but it did include more bred and replacement cows. Prices were mostly $2-4 higher on the heels of another really big jump in cow meat prices. Those 90% trimmings were up over $32 week over week, ending at $302.83 last Wednesday. Those prices are now really close to the highest prices of 2014 and 2015.
