The feeder cattle numbers at the test auctions were 33,500 head, which was 3,000 higher than last week but almost 10,000 below last year. This is because of the much better wheat pasture conditions this year. Prices were either side of steady. The lower prices are due to recent storms and wet conditions and less active bidding.
Slaughter cow numbers at the test auctions were lower due primarily to the President's Day holiday when some auctions were not reported. Prices were either side of steady, but the bottom end of the price ranges dropped the most.
