We saw a bigger run of feeder cattle with 29,000 head at the test auctions this week but last year there were more than 50,000 head as cattle move off of wheat pastures. Prices continued to decline and were mostly $3-$12 per cwt lower. But prices continued to falter with higher prices on Monday, followed by lower prices Wednesday.
Slaughter cow numbers were almost exactly the same as the previous week with 5,400 head at the test auctions. Prices were mostly $1-$4 lower on the heels of the dropping cow meat prices.
